About us
The family behind Villa Sekar Padi
A rice-field plot, a surf season that never ended, and a villa run like a home.
The land
The plot has been in Alit's family for three generations, his grandfather planted the frangipani trees that still shade the pool deck. When the rice paddies around Berawa began turning into concrete, the family decided that if this land had to change, it would change on their terms.
The build
Sarah arrived from Melbourne in 2014 for one surf season and never left. She and Alit spent 2018 sketching the villa on warung napkins: four suites, not forty. Local teak, local stone, local hands. Sekar Padi opened in May 2019 with the rice field still out front.
The way we host
We host the way Balinese families host: you are a guest in our home, not a booking number. That means Chef Wayan's mother's recipes, Gede waiting at arrivals with your name and cold water, and Sarah on WhatsApp before your coffee goes cold.
What we believe
Guests, not bookings
Four suites means we know your name, your coffee order, and your plans by day two.
Local first
Staff from our banjar, produce from Pasar Canggu, drivers and guides we grew up with.
Honest pricing
Tax and service included, deposits explained upfront, and a best-rate promise that has teeth.

The people you'll actually meet
Komang "Alit" Wirawan
Owner & host
Born in Berawa, Alit built the villa on his family's rice-field land and opened it in 2019. He still walks the garden every morning before guests wake up.
Ask them: Ask him: beach or waterfall? He knows every shortcut between Berawa and Batu Bolong, and which warung is worth the detour.
Sarah Wirawan
Co-owner & guest experience
Sarah moved from Melbourne to Bali in 2014 and answers every WhatsApp message personally, within an hour, 8:00 to 22:00 WITA.
Ask them: Ask Sarah where to get a proper flat white in Canggu, the Melbourne standards never left her.
Putu Eka Yanti
Villa manager
Putu spent 12 years in Seminyak five-star hotels before joining the villa. She runs housekeeping, check-ins and the small details you only notice when they're missing.
Ask them: Ask Putu how she folds towels, twelve years of five-star training shows in about four seconds.

“Sarah replied to our first WhatsApp within twenty minutes and had Gede waiting at the airport with a name sign. The Padi Suite bathtub with the rice-field view was the bit we still talk about.”
“Chef Wayan's Balinese feast was the best meal of our trip, and it happened ten steps from our room. Ask for the sambal his mother taught him.”
“We took the whole villa for three families and the kids basically lived in the 16-metre pool. Putu had a cot and high chair set up before we even arrived.”
